Shamrock Sunday. Painting #60
Now here’s something different! I streamed this on St. Patrick’s Day. I wanted to do something fun and that went along with the theme of the day.
Bob has done some monochromatic paintings in a few episodes so I did something along those lines but using sap green.
To do a monochromatic painting like this, you basically need only three colors. The main color you want the painting to be, in this case sap green. Black to darken the shade and white to lighten the shade.

Difficulties and Tips
These monochromatic paintings are excellent to practice shading and value. There wasn’t much that was difficult except the cloud. I tried to give the cloud a shamrock shape but it’s hard to do while trying to make it look somewhat natural. Some have said that the cloud looks sort of like a mushroom cloud. I can see it!
Just remember to use a lighter shade for far away tree lines and then use just a bit darker as you come forward. Just have a little fun and experiment as you go along. With this medium, it’s easy to correct mistakes happy accidents.
I also made this painting into a time lapse. Check it out!
Don’t forget to check out my social media pages as well as YouTube and Twitch. This fun little painting is actually available in my Etsy shop.
Happy Painting!
