Night Train. Painting #24. A Unique Commission Opportunity
Night Train
Date Painted: April 15, 2017
Size: 11 x 14 canvas
Night Train is my 24th painting and my fifth original. This was an interesting one!
I was contacted by the friend of the person I sold my first painting to. They sent me a photo and asked if I could paint it for them. This was a photo they had on their phone and thought it would make a cool painting. I was hesitant at first because it wasn’t my typical style but after looking over it, I began to plan in my head how to apply the techniques I did know. After much consideration, I decided to take it on. I don’t have the original picture that I referenced.
This time, since it was a commission, I requested a deposit. I learned that lesson early on. I was quite pleasantly surprised with how this turned out! From the color mixing, to the perspective and straight lines of the track, I really enjoyed painting it and figuring out the right color mixtures and shades that made this turn out the way it did. This came out really good if I say so myself. The customer was quite pleased with it. A little while after, they requested another one from me. I well and truly experienced the joy of painting again while doing this one.
Lesson learned here. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. When they work, it’s a real confidence boost! You’re more capable than you think.
I hope you enjoy this painting. Comments? Questions? Let me know below.
Happy Painting!
